What are nonprofit organizations?

  • 3. Non-profit organizations, that qualify for tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code because they are organized for the specific purposes stated in the Code.

What is the best way to determine whether a nonprofit is a legitimate charity?

You can check the IRS “Select Check” website which will help you confirm whether the organization is recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS under Section 501(c)(3) or another section
